A Jacket 3 Ways

It should be no surprise that living in a cold weather city, like Chicago, you procure a plethora of jackets and heavy coats in your lifetime. From short moto jackets to long, down-filled parkas; nearly every season here has a need for an additional outer layer.

I found this jacket at Urban Outfitters and kept an eye on it until the Black Friday sales were live and scooped it up at a 20% discount. I find I often lean towards jackets with a little edge or variability. Not only am I looking at this jacket and thinking What could I accessorize with this? but also considering How many layers can I fit under this thing when it’s -25℉ outside?

Although the jacket is already black, I love the additional texture of the black, faux leather sleeves. The giant hood is essential when the wind is sweeping off Lake Michigan and freezing off every skin cell on your body. The length is long enough to keep you warm, and I like the hi-lo detail to cover my backside.

I like that there are options here that give each position of the zipper a different look. If it’s sub-zero there’s a double breasted option to keep everything snug and warm underneath. Which is a completely different look from the fully unzipped version that borrows into the poncho/cape family of outerwear. And the just zipped middle ground is solid, fashionable, and structured, but not in an obnoxious way.

Not to mention I feel like a BOSS in this jacket or a Batman villain; I can’t decide. Good work Urban. Bravo.
