A Formal Christmas

I'll admit, I'm one of those jerks that loves getting dressed up for any occasion. Maybe it's because most days I work with my hands so I feel like a constant mess or maybe it's because I just don't think people appreciate looking nice these days. I'm down for a hoodie at home, but when you're out to dinner with you significant other, I mean, come on. Throw 'em a bone.

But there's also something about Christmas that just makes everything lovely and homey and warm. Somehow we are able to shut out the cold that batters at our windows and find that comforting glow in the company and lights around us. It's also a great excuse to flaunt what your momma gave you.

Plus I feel like a pencil skirt flatters ANY woman's frame. Whether you're boxy or got that booty, pencil skirts elongate and flatten all the things you want to hide and add some lovely curve to all the things you want to show off. I also despise the monotone pallate that so frequents the mid west during the winter. The grey, dreary sky with everyone's black and white; we need to paint some life back into it! Neutrals are always excellent but especially for a holiday party, I love a pop of color like red or green (obviously) but also colors like a rich purple or even a vibrant blue are excellent alternatives. And a cropped top (which I'm slowly warming to) is a sexy way to at an edge to your "fancy".
