You Can Find Me At The Disco

When I was a child, my father traveled a lot for work and wasn't around much. So when he was home for a few extra days, I'd do everything in my power to spend time with him. One of those things was listening to his disco tapes while my mom was away. The electronic beat infested my soul and my dad would tell me stories about the 70's and the height of the disco age. I loved the time I got to spend with him and loved even more the sound a man's soft falsetto dancing over mixes of funk and soul.

I remember the day I found out that the Bee Gees was an all-male group. I couldn't comprehend how a man could sing at such a high pitch. Regardless, I loved the afros and bell-bottom jeans, the bling and the dancing. Above all, I couldn't stop my body from moving whenever that beat would drop. To this day my favorite music is some sort of mix of funk and soul with a dash of electronica.

I found these pants at the BCBG outlet and they are quite long. I couldn't pass up a good wide leg pant though so I figured I'd somehow find a way to add a super platform shoe into my wardrobe. Or just get them tailored. When I brought them home I threw them in the closet and saw a shoe box sitting on the floor. I had forgotten about a super psychodelic pair of platform wedges I had purchased during the winter and had just been WAITING for an excuse to wear them. The pants perfectly skimmed the floor and I knew I had found a winning combination.

The oversized duster I snagged from ASOS. I'd been looking for one for awhile and loved the subtle pink stripes against the light grey cloud of this coat. I find it goes with darn near everything. Or maybe that's me and my slight obsession with it. Ah well.

The 70's are back people! Embrace it!
